iZombie: they're walking among us!
I recently watched the second season of iZombie (I had already watched the first season some time ago). It’s an interesting series, deliberately surreal, but it “works” in a strange way. To be appreciated, it requires a great sense of humor and a greater suspension of disbelief. I’ve found several strengths, and some weaknesses in it. These are the things I appreciated:
1) They walk among us
The basic idea of this series is that “the zombies are hiding among us” and the main character is one of them. This requires to change the game’s rules a little, to avoid making the zombies easily recognizable. In this version, zombies are very similar to vampires. They’re physically indistinguishable from normal people, except for the pale skin and white hair (traits that can be hidden). They retain the intelligence and memory they had before. But they have to routinely feed on human brains (about once a week), or they turn into “

The Orville: a pleasant surprise
After reading my harsh reviews of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Trek: Discovery, you may think that I like talk badly about current science fiction. But it’s not so. I would LOVE to see again beautiful series, like the Star Trek of the Nineties, Stargate SG-1 or Farscape. The only series of this type recently produced that I’ve seen is, paradoxically, a parody / tribute of Star Trek. I’m talking about The Orville, produced by Seth McFarlane for Fox. The first season was broadcast in autumn 2017 and a second season is expected for autumn 2018. This series surprised me in a positive way: it was like a breath of fresh air. I discovered its existence a short time before it was aired (unfortunately it didn’t receive much advertising), and I found it a pleasant surprise. These are its strengths, in my opinion.
(MODERATE) SPOILER ALERT!
1) The optimistic vision of the future
As in previous Star Trek series (before reboot and Discovery) the futur

Star Trek: Discovery of nonsense
I waited to see the first season of Star Trek: Discovery until the last episode before publishing this comment, because I didn’t want to be hurried. I wanted to see the whole season, to express a global opinion and to reason with a cold mind. So, here it is. The problems of Star Trek Discovery are roughly the same as Star Wars 8: a great saga, which has lasted for decades and has passionate entire generations, is now emptied of all narrative logic and used as a propaganda tool. The result is that Discovery is arrogant, pessimistic, confusing and totally in contrast with the messages of the previous Trek series. These are the biggest problems that I’ve detected.
SPOILER ALERT!
1) Michael Burnham
or: when Mary Sue becomes SJW
The previous series of Star Trek were choral. TNG, DS9 and VOY have both choral episodes and episodes focused on single characters (to explore everyone’s personality). Especially DS9 has a considerable amount of secondary and recurrin

The Last Jedi: a timeless myth destroyed
I saw Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi. Twice. I thought about it. I have discussed for a long time with my relatives and friends. And I’m deeply convinced that this film shows us what happens when a timeless myth is poisoned by the political ideology of the moment. I will try to explain why (sorry for my bad English):
SPOILER ALERT!
Star Wars is not just science fiction. It’s more like a fantasy with a science-fiction setting. Star Wars is born as a modern revival of mythology, legends, fairy tales (is set “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”). Its plot therefore contains the “mythemes”, i.e. the fundamental nuclei of the action, which are found in the main mythologies of the world: the virginal birth (Anakin from Shmi), the prodigious weapons (the lightsabers), the father-son conflict (Vader vs Luke), the recognition between family members (Luke-Leia), etc. It’s not so strange that ancient myths reappear in contempora
